One birthday,
different numbers

Numerology has several calculation methods, so one birthday can produce different numbers. We show four side by side without selecting a correct one, and also calculate Plum Blossom numerology hexagrams.

Birth date and time

Your information is used only in this browser, without server transfer or storage.

Birth time

A birth time is required for hexagrams, but numbers can be calculated without it.

Name (optional)

These name-number methods use Roman-letter tables. Korean or Chinese names are not calculated because transliteration changes the result. Your name stays in this browser and is not sent or saved.

Birthday numbers (numerology)

Encyclopaedia Britannica describes numerology as assigning numbers to names and birth dates, without specifying a formula. Practitioner books and websites differ. We show four methods: separately reduce month/day/year then add, add all digits, keep 11/22 separate following a 1917 text, and keep day/month/year separate in the Chaldean approach.

Name numbers

The Pythagorean table assigns A–I 1–9, J–R 1–9 and S–Z 1–8. The Chaldean table omits 9. Some letters in our original Chaldean scan are illegible, so names containing unconfirmed letters do not receive a Chaldean value.

Plum Blossom numerology hexagram

Volume 1 of Mei Hua Yi Shu assigns the year+month+day remainder modulo 8 to the upper trigram, adds the hour for the lower trigram, and uses the total modulo 6 for the moving line. Trigram numbers are Qian 1, Dui 2, Li 3, Zhen 4, Xun 5, Kan 6, Gen 7 and Kun 8. The year uses branch numbers, and month/day use the lunar calendar. Hexagram names come from Wikisource's Zhou Yi table.
